But the Tigers were placed under pressure early with key players Leigh West and Tye Tyrrell both missing from the game dubbed as the battle between the cats and the dogs, played at Esperance Oval.

16/07/2008 | ESPERANCE has returned home from Perth without achieving their goal of a third Landmark Country Championship title in four years after the side could manage just one win in four games, missing the c-section grand final berth. In a five-team division Esperance finished second last above Ravensthorpe and Districts, who were winless for the championship and below Lower South West (four wins), Central Midlands Coastal (three wins) and North Midlands (two wins).

10/07/2008 | THE Tigers’ dream season continued on Sunday as Gibson brought Ports’ three game winning streak to a screeching halt, leaving the club feeling more than a little Blue after an impressive 75-point win at Gibson. Despite entering the game with two hard games under their belt in recent weeks and coming up against a quietly confident Blues combination, the Tigers were never in doubt of taking their eighth win of the season.
