Driver changes welcomed
4/07/2008 | HANGES to L and P plate driving restrictions for novice drivers came into effect on Monday June 30 as part of a government effort to protect young drivers from serious injury. Research has shown that P plate drivers in their first year of unsupervised driving are eight times more likely to be involved in an accident where the passenger is killed than those who have been driving for more than a year.
4/07/2008 | WITH the Tour D’Esperance just around the corner, the Esperance Shire has received $42,000 in funding from a State Government scheme designed to improve cycling facilities in regional WA. The money will be used to create a 1,762 metre asphalt shared path on Twilight Beach Road, to provide additional walking and cycling opportunities for residents and the many tourists who visit the area.
Funding sought for jetty
4/07/2008 | THE Tanker Jetty could soon have a different title incorporating the name of a company if that company becomes a major contributor to the maintenance of the jetty. The Esperance Community Alliance, which includes the Esperance Shire, the Chamber of Commerce, Esperance Regional Travellers Association and the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission, is currently drafting a proposal seeking corporate sponsorship for the Tanker Jetty and working towards a set management plan of up to 20 years.
